Overview
The course will cover the basics
of
industry and competition analysis (ICA)
focssing on media, and information technology enterprises. It combines a basic
understanding of ICA tools and case studies.
The course will be
taught in ENGLISH! Preparation will not be necessary. Registration (see
below) is
mandatory.
GROUP WORK is mandatory. Groups of two or three
students need to be formed before or during the first course meeting, individual
work only is
not possible!
We recommend groups of THREE students (it helps to share work and learn
about group work!).

Groups of 3 students receive
two written assignment DURING the course.

Topic:
Choose ONE infrastructure service provider (telcom-, TV cable-, satellite
service provider) that contributes to watching TV in a home in Germany. Offer a
5-step industry and competition analysis including a competitive strategy with
concepts of your choice along the five MAIN questions introduced in class (Focus
on steps 1, 2, and 3!).
1. Explain Current Industry and Supply Chain Profitability
2. Assess Competitive Strategy and Position
3. Determine Profit Outlook of Industry
4. Determine and Evaluate Strategic Options
5. Assess Robustness of Chosen Strategy
Evaluation Criteria:
Quality of analyis and robustness of arguments

anything regarding the final assignment anymore.
