Overview
The course will cover the basics of strategy and innovation analysis (SaI) focussing on media, and information technology enterprises. It combines a basic understanding of SaI concepts, theoretical backgrounds and case studies.
The course will be taught in ENGLISH! Preparation will not be necessary. Registration (see below) is mandatory.
GROUP WORK is mandatory; groups will be formed during the 1st session!

Dates and Location
15.10., 22.10., 12.11., 19.11., 03.12., 17.12. (all 2009) and 14.01., 21.01. (both 2010), Thursdays 17:45-21:00 h in XXIII.
The number of actual class sessions depends on the number of participants.
Participation in all sessions but one 90 minute session (!)  is required for receiving Credit Points!
Visit to T-Gallery of Deutsche Telekom AG on 14.01.2010.

Assignments
Two group assignments (text and ppt) will be given DURING the course (no preparation before the 1st session).

Final Assignment: Towards a Strategy for Innovation
Choose a company / company unit or product / innovation:
(1) develop or analyze a strategy (60%)
(2) reflect the strategy for innovation against some approach / concepts from academic literature (40%)
[e.g., papers from Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Product and Innovation Management]
Text: 3,000 – 5,000 words plus refs; PPT: max 10 slides (READABLE!)
Deadline: Jan. 18, 2010, 11:00 o'clock
2 copies

Grading / Credit Points
Grading will be based on

Students receiving a final grade of 4,0 or better will be awarded 6 Credit Points ('Leistungspunkte') in Media Management.
