Introduction

The course will cover the basics of conducting research and writing a master thesis / paper on a media and technology management topic. It will emphasize the importance of properly structuring and outlining one's work. It will cover the basics of writing some literature grounding / literature background for any given research paper. Note that such literature grounding is different from conducting a literature review paper. It will introduce and help to select research methods and approaches, but not teach how to conduct any specific one. Finally, the course will get students accustomed to reading and perhaps reviewing research papers.

The course does not teach the content of / literature on any specific MTM topic unless wanted different by a majority of students. It is mostly suitable for students interested in appreciating academic contributions and / or considering to write a thesis.

Depending on the number of registrants, the course will encourage group work.

Dates (max. 5)

Oct. 20, Nov. 10, Nov. 24, Dec. 08 all '25 and Jan. 12, '26. Sessions may be much shorter than scheduled, most time is needed before and between the sessions! We will post a detailed outline with assignments here when we know the number of students. Most work can then be done ahead of the sessions.
