Overview
This course provides theoretical concepts and
practical approaches to leadership and management development topics and
discusses them based on concrete practical examples from the media industry.
Management development is introduced as strategic instrument of the CEO. In the course, we analyze and discuss whether and how leadership capabilities can be 'taught' and which competencies leadership in and management of media companies require.
Student should be prepared to apply philosophical, sociological, and psychological concepts to issues such as changes in intention and behavior of employees in the course of change and transformation processes as concrete challenges in todays media companies.

Assignments
The assignments are structured as follows:
Written Exam covering the material of the class sessions (30% - individually)
Oral participation (requiring preparation) at all class sessions (30% - individually)
Group assignment and presentation (40% - in group)
Group assignments will be distributed in class and are due
at the Department of Business, Media and Technology Management, Pohligstr. 1,
letter box inside the building - 3 copies plus one Word document on CD (not
via e-mail).
Including all grades, students must achieve an average of 4,0 or
better.
