Overview
In
this course, you will gain a basic understanding of the today's
telecommunications and media industry as a crucial infrastructure for everyday
life. We introduce different media and telecommunication infrastructures such as
the Internet, traditional telephone network, cable, satellite, and wireless
solutions. We cover some developments over time, and focus on basic economic,
technical and legal aspects, and the role the different infrastructures play in
today's society and economy. We will focus on Germany, and also provide some
references to other EU countries.

April 11, April 18, May 2, May 9, May 16, June 6,
June 20, June 27, and exam on July 4 or July 11 - all 2011, 17:45-21:00 in
XXIII (sessions will take place on max. 7 days; the selection of dates will
be announced on a short term basis.)
Preparation
Not needed.
Literature
No reading beyond the material presented and discussed
in class is required; if students are interested to follow up certain topics on
their own (beyond the course), advice will be offered.
Grading
Grading will be based on

Participation
during session (40%)

Written exam (60 minutes) during the last session (60%). Exam questions will be
in English, answers can be written in English or German.
Students receiving a final grade of 4,0 or
better will be awarded 6
Credit Points ('Leistungspunkte') in Media Management.
