Jan Dombrowski holds an LL.M. (Master of Laws) in Information Technology Law
from the University of Düsseldorf.
Since 2006, he has been working with the Unitymedia Group, which operates a
broadband cable network in NRW, Hesse and BW.
Currently, he in charge of all Unitymedia's telecom regulatory affairs.

Overview
This business course will cover a portfolio of internal and external issues
relevant when man-aging a media and telecom infrastructure
(telecom/cable/satellite/Internet).
During the sessions, we will discuss a variety of different perspectives such as
from telecom operators, cable and satellite providers, content providers,
regulators, and a country's economy and end-users.
Teaching format will be a combination of lecture, discussions among all
participants and group projects. The groups will be formed during first session
by the instructor.

BEFORE the 1st session and
(1) summarize in about 500 words (250 each):
a) what effect 'vectoring' could bring with respect to up-
and download speed available at the end-user's premises, and
b) what effect 'vectoring' could have on 'unbundling' (the
ability of other operators to gain access to end-users by using the last-mile
copper wire)
and
(2) discuss about 300 words what benefits (or detriments) 'vectoring' might
bring for the deploying operator (Deutsche Telekom), operators asking for
'unbundling', the economy, and end-users.

Course Grading / Credit Points
Grading will be based on
Pre-Assignment (25%)
Individual course contributions (25%) during hopefully lively discussions
Group presentation (25%) – topic and date given during the course
Final group Assignment – based on group presentation – to be finalized two weeks after the last course session (25%)
