Overview
The course will explore the recent trends at the intersection of technology and innovation. We will look at how technology based communities and ecosystems are designed and governed to cultivate innovation in a variety of forms from designers, experts, users, and communities. Specific topics include open innovation and open source, social innovation, design driven innovation, technology platforms and serious games.

Dates and Location

• November 12, 2010, 12:30-18:30 o'clock, in HS XXIII, WiSo Building (University of Cologne)

• November 13, 2010, 09:30-18:00 o'clock, in HS XXIII, WiSo Building (University of Cologne)
  Participation in all sessions is required for receiving 7 Credit Points!

Assignments
Students will receive a variety of cases and readings by August 15. They will be asked to prepare brief answers to case questions before class and a final report.
Deadline for Assignments

• Case questions / answers: November 12, 2010
  Hand in 
  1) till 11:00 o'clock by eMail to jonathan.wareham<at>esade.edu, claudia.loebbecke<at>uni-koeln.de, and sandra.weniger<at>uni-koeln.de 
      AND
  2) two paper copies at the beginning of the session in class.

• Final report: November 29, 2010, till 12:00 o'clock
  Hand in by
  1) eMail (.doc-file, no .pdf !) to all group members (sMail), jonathan.wareham<at>esade.edu, and sandra.weniger<at>uni-koeln.de 
      AND
  2) two paper copies + CD (.doc-file, no .pdf !) at the department's letter box (inside the building, Pohligstr. 1, 50969 Cologne). 

• Case questions / answers: 20 % (individual)
• Class participation: 30 % (individual)
• Final report: 50 % (group)
